CIVIL WAR BOOK At the Vermilion
County Museum $32.57 (tax included) This book is published in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. It relates to the preludes to the war, life on the home front, and is a record of Vermilion County residents' participation in the conflict. Read about the men who volunteered and made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the soldier's who survived. This book is based on their letters and diaries, many of the words are their own. A writer for the American Legion Review once titled Vermilion County, Illinois, "the most patriotic county in America." The volunteers from Old Vermilion, who answered President Lincoln's call to arms, deserved that title. This is their story. |
